Drawing Closer to God | Prayer & Fasting

Drawing Closer to God | Prayer & Fasting

How are you going to draw closer to God this year?  He desires for us to be in relationship with Him and best part is, He has already given us the tools we need to do it!  Prayer and fasting.  The beautiful thing about fasting is that we can enter in and approach God whenever and however we need to.  We can gain wisdom, clarity, revelation, and knowledge by temporarily denying ourselves and inviting God to dwell in us for a purpose.  Prayer can, and should exist without fasting. It's when we combine the two together, they reach their fullest potiential in our lives!

When we fast, we push ourselves to fully depend on God to provide the things we need.

We deepen our personal relationship with Him and position ourselves to clearly hear directly from God.  We don't have to wait to be in trouble or despair.  Our Father is always open to us drawing nearer to Him.  When you fast, be intentional with God.  Remove the focus from what you are abstaining from and simply focus your thoughts and heart on God.

So how do you start?  Here's another great point about fasting.  There's no one way to do it!  There are many online resources and guides, and you can always visit us on Sunday's and Wednesday's for service, schedule to meet with one of our Pastor's, Minister's, or leaders for guidance and support, or simply stop by our office during office hours!

Here are a few ways you can implement fasting and praying to position yourself to draw closer to God.

  1. Corporate fast with your church.
  2. Follow a specific fasting guide or program. One of the most common is the Daniel Fast.
  3. Journaling. Allow the Holy Spirit to flow through you and write it down during your prayer time!

What you need to remember.

Fasting takes time and preparation.  Research and plan what type of fast you will do, and how long you will do it for.  It's ok to start slow, specifically if you will be abstaining from food.  You can also consider abstaining from other things that have a large presence in your life like social media.  Its ok to make adjustments but the most important thing to do is pray and ask God to guide you. Outline your intentions, and commit to pressing in during your time of prayer and fasting.  Fix your heart to hear from God. Don't expect to receive everything you have prayed for by the end of your fast.  Remember, to ultimately pray that God releases that which you are praying and fasting for in His timing, and to seek his word in your time of waiting.

If you have more questions or need more guidance on prayer and fasting can help you draw closer to God, contact us on our website HERE.

Thankful for Faith! [ Progress ]

As we are entering the last month of 2017, the progress on our new building has been full steam ahead. By faith, our exterior projects are well on the way to completion.  Most windows are done, stucco work is nearly complete, our roof is prepped for final stages, and let's not forget the parking lot!  Every aspect of our new facility is truly amazing when we begin to see it come to pass, however, when looking at the progress on our parking lot, reality certainly sets in!  By the end of the next year, what we see in the photos here will be memory and our parking lot will be filled with cars, our rooms filled with families, and our hearts filled with even more gratitude than we feel now!  In this season of thanksgiving we give honor to God for entrusting us with this vision in this time.  Continue to join us in prayer for our pastors, ministries, and the needs of our new facility.  Take a look at some of our recent developments.

Spaces Are Defined!

What a difference walls can make!  It takes a true act of Faith to envision what will be before it is. Walking through our new church home before the interior walls were up took a lot of vision.

With a mission to the community and their members, personally, professionally, and civically; the 705 uses resources, collaboration, and a shared responsibility to develop young professionals into future community leaders.

The aforementioned statement shares the mission behind the 705. It comes to no surprise that professional development is a pillar upon which they take great emphasis in offering. Our Pastor, Ken Lazard, will be a 2016 mentor for The 705. Such a great accomplishment to the body of Christ! To learn more about The 705 click below!

Special Congratulations to our Pastor Ken Lazard for being named a 2015 "Influencer of The Year" per The Independent! Our Pastor hears from God and leads with love, with God's people in mind! Congrats Pastor Ken!

Truman Cleanup

Truman Cleanup

Special thanks to Dwight Thomas and the Destiny of Faith family for participating in beautification efforts on the Truman area. See below video for recap photos.

Completing the Roof

Completing the Roof

The frame is in place, the concrete has been poured, the stage is formed. We thank God for getting us through one of the most intricate phases of the building project. Currently, our construction team is working on the roof and recently began building the brick prayer wall and brick wing wall. The prayer wall will be the highest point of the building and will host many requests and prayers for our families both here in Acadiana and across the nation. Your continued support to the ministry and the Truman community is valued and appreciated! We pray the God overflows your household with favor, prosperity, peace, and joy just as the vats overflowed with wine.

The Stage is Formed!

After working around the weather and crew availability, the stage is now poured and fully formed. Pastor Ken has been leading several crews in preparation for the pouring of the concrete foundation that will tie in all that we have done thus far. Continue to pray for the divine alignment to make room as we press through the weather that has been surrounding our region. Thanks and love goes to all of the families and businesses that continue to give to this House of God. This House that will save souls. This House that will build families. This House that will give a little boy the courage to become the Man God has created him to be. The House that will encourage a young girl to walk in her giftings without shame but with confidence. View some of the pictures below of the stage and give what God is leading and has made possible for you to give. Have an awesome week..Be all that God has called you to be!

The Vision is Taking Shape!

The Vision is Taking Shape!

As you drive past 409 Patterson Street in Lafayette, you will see the vision of the new Destiny of Faith Christian Center Church sanctuary beginning to take shape. It’s a beautiful sight to behold!

As a gentle reminder, the journey to begin the building process was inaugurated on October 27, 2013 and has continued steadily since then. Our Destiny family has invested 1.5 million dollars thus far on land, land improvements, building plans and construction costs. We have already purchased 6.5 acres of land, as well as the building plans from Architects Beazley Moliere, which was all accomplished debt free. Faithful members and partners of the church give every week toward these costs.

We are aware that this mandate and vision are from God and that sowing into this vision is good ground which will produce a great harvest for those who give in obedience to God. Therefore, we are continually seeking partnership with those whose hearts are leading them to help build this much needed sanctuary in this community.

For more information you can contact the church at 337-231-5119 or email to info@destinyoffaithccc.org
